Summarizing Star Wars since Episode VI, Return of the Jedi:
After Luke Skywalker managed to escape with his dying father Anakin (Darth Vader) from the exploding Death Star, Luke gathered what little remained of the Jedi, and formed the New Jedi Order, where they worked on rebuilding their numbers.
Though the galaxy did have its conflicts that required the attention of Luke Skywalker, amongst other famous combatants, the first really big conflict that occurred after the downfall of Emperor Palpatine’s Empire, was when the Yuuzhan Vong arrived in the galaxy.
The Yuuzhan Vong originally came from another galaxy, and they came to the galaxy to purge those they deemed heretical, and take the galaxy for themselves. The Yuuzhan Vong were a foe unlike any other the galaxy has seen. The Yuuzhan Vong were mechanophobic, and saw machines as being a form of blasphemy. Instead of making machines, the Yuuzhan Vong used Biotech instead, and all of their starships, and their weapons and armor, were all living organisms. Plus, they made no mark in the Force, and could not be sensed by the Force. Plus, they are immune to many Force Techniques, such as the famous Jedi Mind Tricks. But the Yuuzhan Vong by and far could not use the Force themselves. The reason being was that aeons ago, their home planet, Yuuzhan’tar was destroyed in a cataclysmic war, which also destroyed their ability to be sensitive to the force.
Ultimately, as the war culminated, some of the Yuuzhan Vong castes such as the Shamed and the Worker castes began to worship the Force in an event known as the Jeedai Heresy, believing that the Force was what remained of the supreme god, Yun-Yuuzhan when they made the world they lived in.
When the war reached its climax, Jedi Knight Jacen Solo (Son of Han Solo and Leia Organa) managed to defeat the supreme overlord of the Yuuzhan Vong who was plotting all along to destroy the galaxy’s life, and absorb all of its power to make himself a god. His plan failed, and because of Jacen Solo’s connection to the force, the Yuuzhan Vong overlord was decimated.
Jacen Solo began to learn more about the force, when he got a vision of a dark man ruling over the galaxy with an iron fist. While bothered by those visions, Jacen saw to not letting those visions come to pass. At that moment, a woman named Lumiya appeared before Jacen, and manipulated Jacen’s fall to the Dark Side, making Jacen Solo into Darth Caedus who ruled over the galaxy with an iron fist. As it turned out, Lumiya was the Dark Lady of the Sith.
After some intense battles later, Jacen’s twin sister Jaina killed Jacen, and Lumiya was later killed by Luke Skywalker.
When Lumiya died, the last vestages of the Sith Order brought about by Darth Bane have ceased to be. The Sith that once ruled by the Rule of Two have disappeared.
But the Sith were by no means gone.
It was also then that a man named Jagged Fel took control of the Galactic Empire while it was still reeling from Palpatine’s demise. Jagged Fel’s reign over the Empire was similar to Palpatine’s, except he emphasized the light side of the force over the dark side. Under Jagged Fel, the Empire recovered.
Years later, the Yuuzhan Vong came to work with the Jedi Order, and their technology was used to restore desolated worlds to life. The Jedi wanted to show the galaxy that the Yuuzhan Vong want to fix their mistakes by restoring the worlds they destroyed. On one world, called Ossus, when the Yuuzhan Vong terraformed it, the life there grew bony protrusions, and it looked ugly. The galaxy as a whole began to accuse the Jedi for trickery, but the truth was, the terraforming was sabotaged by none other than the Sith Order. Except this Sith Order followed a new rule, the Rule of One. There could only be one Dark Lord of the Sith, and all others follow the will of the Dark Lord. That Dark Lord of the Sith was named Darth Krayt.
The chaos that ensued eventually had the Galactic Alliance, the Galactic Empire, and the Jedi Order point their fingers at everyone, and Darth Krayt was easily in place to take over the Galactic Empire, though Emperor Roan Fel managed to escape the chaos, and found the Empire in Exile, while Darth Krayt took most of the rest of the Empire.
From there, Darth Krayt ordered another Jedi Purge, and began to issue tactics and movements all over the galaxy that he learned from observing. Those were dark days for the galaxy, but ultimately, one of Luke Skywalker’s descendents, Cade Skywalker, managed to outdo Darth Krayt, and brought the galaxy back to being more peaceful.
The factions who fought Darth Krayt, known as the Fel Empire, the Galactic Alliance, and the Jedi Order, came together and formed the Galactic Triumvirate, and attempted another shot at bringing peace throughout the galaxy. One member was of the Galactic Alliance, their leader Gar Stazi. Another member was Roan Fel’s daughter Marasiah Fel, and the other was Jedi Master K’kruhk. The three came together, and a new peace was ushered in throughout the galaxy, for 500 years…
